There are so many times I try to do a quick explanation on how I apply my eye shadow to my clients while I’m doing their hair services and every time I think “I wish I could just show you right now!” So, I’ve decided to make a step by step eye shadow tutorial on how I do my own daily makeup.
The makeup line I use at my studio is Limelife.(link) The coverage and pigment are glorious! AND professional quality, paraben free, cruelty free, and vegan.
Tools you will need
- Eye shadow brush
- Eye shadow smudge brush
- Towel or paper towel for dusting off brush between colors
Applying the Eye Shadow
Step 1) I used a lighter cream foundation as a base to even out my lid. This also provides some grip for the shadow pigment to stick to like a primer. I used my regular eye shadow brush to apply it.

Step 2) Apply a light eye shadow shimmer to the main part of the lid- My go-to is #22 but I will use other colors that are similar, sometimes I want a brighter one or one that has more copper in it. Just depends on my day, however, the steps would be the same.

Step 3) Pat a darker color in the outer corner-V shaped- to create a shadow or smokey look. I use #08

Step 4) Apply over the dark an accent color. I don’t always do this part but I wanted to add a touch of green without being too dramatic. I used #50F. If you want a more intense color for your accent just use less or none of the darker color from step 3

Step 5) Blend the colors together with a fluffier brush with an even lighter color (or one that matches your brow bone, for me I use ALL the palest colors to match my face!) Color used-#01

Step 6) Add the bottom liner and smudge. I used the Work Hard/Play Hard eyeliner duo which is almost a gel consistency. I love it because I don’t have to press hard to apply it and it smudges easier. Then comb and fill in your brows. Claim to Frame brow pencil in medium(link) is what I use for mine.

Step 7) Add Mascara. BUT first be sure to curl your lashes before applying mascara. I did not have my curler on hand that day so they would have look way better lifted up.

Finishing the look
As you can see, from the first photo, I finished just half of my face to show a side by side.
I used the cream foundation in Ivory and dusted with a powder (02) then added blush (03 Possible) and lipstick (Devils Food)
